Our Ready Brake is the most simple and effective auxiliary braking system on the market today. This tried-and-true system is compatible with any hitch-mounted tow bar and virtually any tow vehicle. The ready brake is a hitch-mounted surge brake that provides instant and fully proportional braking to your toad vehicle. The Ready Brake does not rely on electronic components that can fail. This is a purely mechanical solution that delivers proportional braking to your toad vehicle. The Ready Brake also includes a dash light that turns on when the brakes on the toad are applied. The Ready Brake will help you avoid the high cost and complications associated with other “brake in a box” and “progressive braking” systems. The cable no longer needs to be routed through the firewall which could be complicated for some vehicles.  The cable now routes through the floorboard of your tow vehicle for a much cleaner and simpler install for any tow vehicle. Highly Recommended add-on product: Our Ready Stop breakaway protection– This will stop the toad in a breakaway event and is needed to tow legally in many States and Canada.


Vehicle note: For the Ford C-Max hybrid Energi you must pull fuse #9 to disconnect the vacuum pump. In testing, this fixes this car's problem and makes it towable with the Ready Brake.

A supplemental tow brake and breakaway device is required by law in most States and Provinces when towing a vehicle 4 wheels down.

This Ready Brake will work with any tow bar with a 2-inch receiver.

I pull my 2010 Jeep Wrangler with my 31 foot Class C RV. Worked perfectly as advertised, the Ready Brake is impressive on how well it works. Interstate, rolling hills, and some pretty crappy roads along the way and this system is awesome!! A pure and simple mechanical system that you set up and adjust once and you're done! Hookup takes minutes! Unhooking takes even less. And a hell of a lot cheaper than the box brakes by Roadmaster and the like!

This thing is great. I researched tow bars and supplemental brake systems before deciding on this due to the mechanical brake, ease of setup and cost. Immediately upon install we towed a Jeep Patriot from Colorado to Alaska and back with a Class C and system worked great. Couldn't be happier.
