The cable no longer needs to be routed through the firewall which could be complicated for some vehicles. The cable now routes through the floorboard of your tow vehicle for a much cleaner and simpler install for any tow vehicle. IT IS RARE, BUT IF A DIRECT CONNECT STYLE BASEPLATE IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR YOUR VEHICLE YOU WILL NEED TO PURCHASE A ROADMASTER CROSSBAR ASSEMBLY WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE PACKAGE.

I had mine coming on ten years and as you described simple, effective, & safe yet cost effective. No external power, vacuum or air pressure required for normal operation. Just connect the cable from the bar to the toad and your brake ready to head out. And don't for get to buy a break away kit.

Very easy to use and hooks up better than most. It is worth every cent. It is the best tow bar for the money since for only a couple hundred more than the Blue Ox. ... Most tow bars require a separate braking system to the tune of $1K+ but this one has a cable based system that works just fine and meets the standards of the states that require a braking system. This tow bar is heavy duty, precision machined and well made! The integrated surge brake system enables the towed-vehicle (the "toad") brakes to be activated via a mechanical cable within a cable sleeve easily routed and installed through the toad's firewall and attached to the brake pedal. This provides simple, robust, secure, and proportional braking for the towed vehicle.

This is by far the best tow bar on the market, bar none. Direct connection to the brake pedal provides the best braking of the tow bars. No crap in the floor or electrical components to worry about. I have comfort in knowing that the vehicle that I am towing is actually braking...where do I buy shares in this invention!!!

Just as advertised.. Love it!. This is a mechanical braking system. No big "Box" on the floor of the drivers side seat. Comes complete with everything you need on the receiver side.
